One thing all parents will agree on is that having a child learn a second language is a good, even, essential thing to do. But beyond the usual "expanding their horizons" blather are very real issues around preparation for a global existence where country boarders are mere road signs.
How, then, to choose which language will best prepare a young mind for future cultural exchanges, business relationships and diplomatic immunity? Here we present expert and persuasive arguments for each of the four languages we think will have a global impact within the next 20 years.
